Mexico: Tulum

Tulum. There are two, I have learned. There is backpacker Tulum where you stay in hostels in town and eat at local restaurants. Then there is this whole other Tulum along the beach with boutique hotels and upscale dining. During my first time in Tulum I didn't even know this boutique hotel neighborhood existed but thanks to Instagram, I am now well aware of the picturesque restaurants, VW bugs and the local bike cruising scene.

Laura and I stayed along the beach road at MangleX Eco Hotel, a much more affordable option for the neighborhood since it's across the street from the beach in the jungle above the mangroves.

By day we had breakfast at Be Tulum, spent rain free afternoons on the beach beds at Rosa del Viento, lunch at Posada Margherita and biked to town and to Grande Cenote.

By night we wandered down to Mur Mur, Secret Garden and Gitano for dinner and drinks.
